ShareX is not a Mac app. Its official site calls it a free, open-source screenshot tool for Windows. The project’s GitHub description adds capture, recording, annotation, OCR, uploads, shareable links, and custom workflows.

That is useful because it answers the first migration question immediately: if your team needs ShareX itself, the current public project scope points to Windows. On a Mac, choose the workflow you want to preserve rather than looking for a fictional one-to-one installer.

## If you need a zero-install replacement

Apple’s built-in Screenshot tool covers the basic path. Apple documents Shift-Command-3, Shift-Command-4, and Shift-Command-5, plus window/menu capture, timers, destinations, a floating thumbnail, and Control-to-Clipboard.

Use it for region capture, an issue attachment, or a quick copy into a chat. The tradeoff is that Apple’s public guide does not promise ShareX’s task automation, custom uploaders, OCR workspace, or open-source extensibility.
